A wedding filled with so much love and happiness – an absolute joy to photograph! I used to babysit Alex the groom many years ago so it was an honour to be asked to capture his special day. It was really lovely to meet Olivia who was one of the most chilled out brides ever…she was cool as a cucumber! The little looks of love between the pair throughout the day were so heartwarming to see. A gorgeous couple who are clearly made for each other.
The wedding was at the end of September when we were cursed with very wet weather, and the forecast for the day was looking ominous (the heavens opened the day before!). It was certainly hit or miss as to whether the weather gods would be on their side, but Alex’s two best men appeared to solve this with a nifty trick! Following an old wedding tradition, they planted raw sausages around the wedding reception grounds the day before in hope that the superstition would pay off and bring fair weather for the day…and lo and behold, it did (until everyone was all cosy inside for the evening celebrations)!
The ceremony took place at the Church of All Saints, Lullington, a beautiful small village and church in the Mendip district of Somerset. Guests were shuttle bussed from Orchardleigh Estate to the church and back again following the ceremony for the reception and partying! Orchardleigh House is a grand 19th Century Victorian house surrounded by acres of stunning grounds; oozing elegance and grandeur, it was the perfect setting for Alex and Olivia’s magical day!
